FairShare ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the FairShare mobile application.
Information We Collect
Account Information: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address (or a private relay email if you use Hide My Email with Apple). We use this solely to create and manage your account.
Purchase Data: You voluntarily log purchase information including item names, prices, and optional receipt photos. This data is stored in your house and visible to all house members.
House Data: House names, invite codes, banner photos, and member information are stored to provide the shared experience.
Device Information: We may collect device tokens for push notifications if you opt in.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the FairShare service
- To calculate shared expenses and balances between house members
- To generate personalized Smart Savings suggestions based on your house's purchase history
- To send push notifications (nudges, purchase alerts) if enabled
- To improve and optimize the app experience
Smart Savings & Affiliate Links
FairShare analyzes your house's purchase patterns to suggest money-saving alternatives. When you tap a Smart Savings suggestion, you may be directed to Amazon.com through an affiliate link. FairShare is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.
We track the number of clicks on savings suggestions (aggregated, not personally identifiable) to improve our recommendations. We do not share your individual purchase data with Amazon or any third party.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We implement security rules to ensure users can only access data within their own house.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your purchase data is shared only with members of your house within the app. We may share anonymized, aggregated data for analytics purposes.
Your Rights
- Access: You can view all your data within the app at any time.
- Export: You can export your purchase history as a CSV file from Settings.
- Deletion: You can leave a house (which removes your member data) or delete your account entirely by contacting us.
- Notifications: You can toggle notification preferences in Settings at any time.
Children's Privacy
FairShare is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
